attribute, property, character 這幾個字的概念很接近。而中文的 屬性、特性、特質 等詞的概念也一樣很類似。以下，我們試著區分這幾個概念。

詞義研究

Attribute 是事物與生俱來的特質：

Character 是與其他事物不同的特點

特質

• 教育部國語辭典: 異於其他眾物的性質
• 現代漢語規範詞典: 特有的品質或性質
• 國語活用辭典: 特別的性質

特性

• 教育部國語辭典: 某人或某事物所具有的獨特性質
• 現代漢語規範詞典: 特有的性質
• 國語活用辭典: 特別的性質

結論

• Attribute 應當對應到 屬性
• Property 應當對應到 特性
• Character 應當對應到 特質

Attribute 及 property 在計算機科技領域上使用的非常普遍。例如：file attribute、object property 等。上述的翻法，使用在此領域非常貼切，而且明確不會混淆。
